It was a day or so before the valleymen relented and sent a number of men on skis after the fleeing Gustav Vasa to offer their support in Sälen in his rebellion against the Danish king.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e Three years later, the Danish king's rule was over and Gustav Vasa was elected the new King of Sweden, and on Midsummer's Day in 1523, Gustav Vasa, who had been elected king at a Riksdag in Strängnäs, marched into the capital.
