Sorceress is so fond of the princess that she wants to marry her off to one of her sons. A young man is on his way and manages to save the princess with the help of a spell he picked up through his journey in the great forest.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e John Bauer's interpretation of the trolls as a creature of nature is evident in their lifelike shapes and colors. The contrast with the princess, and the turn of the century portrayal of the \"ideal child\", represents innocence and naivety. \u003cspan\u003eBauer's work has shaped generations of children and their perceptions of the forest and its various fairy-tale creatures.
