Historic wall art for homes with soul

Handpicked from leading archives, printed in premium quality

Stockholm Central Station
From the archive

Five years after its inauguration

When V. Lundgren photographed Stockholm Central Station in 1933, the grand waiting hall was only five years old. The renovation had replaced the station’s former track bed and created a modern concourse where daylight was conceived as part of the architecture through large windows and roof lanterns. The hall also featured a drinking fountain where travelers could draw clean water. The photograph thus does not show an old railway setting in its late phase, but rather an almost newly built symbol of modernity. What today may be perceived as classic station architecture was then the result of a recent effort to make the growing experience of rail travel brighter, more comfortable, and more organized.
