The story behind the motif
Poster with an old poster of a puffin . The illustration was drawn by the von Wright brothers and published at the beginning of the 20th century in the book Swedish Birds After Nature Och På Sten Ritad . In the picture we see, among other things, the text Fratercula arctica - Latin for the name of the species and Swedish translated "the little brother". It is uncertain what the bird's Latin name was inspired by.
Lunnefågelns are mainly found in Iceland and Norway, but also the Faroe Islands and Great Britain. Puffins can get very old. In Scotland, individuals have been found who were up to 30 years old!
