21 originals before printing
Before Blomstersiffror became a book, the series existed as 21 signed watercolours. Ottilia Adelborg had therefore completed a full set of originals before it was printed in 1894. The series followed Prinsarnes blomsteralfabet from 1892 and transferred the same playful pedagogy from letters to numbers—but the watercolours came first.

The story behind the motif

Poster with beautiful Flower Numbers by Ottilia Adelborg from 1894. Ottilia drew the flower numbers from 1 up to and including 20, partly as individual works but also as a collective picture.

Ottilia Adelborg was a famous Swedish artist and writer who has become known as the author of the Swedish children's book. Floral figures and The flower alphabet of the princes are two of her most famous works.
