A Swedish Letter for Tourism
The title ends with the Swedish “Snö”, rather than the Norwegian “Snø” – a small linguistic marker in a poster commissioned by Norway’s national tourist organisation in 1956. Landslaget for reiselivet i Norge worked to promote the country from 1903 to 1984, and here the neighbouring language became part of the appeal.

The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautifully illustrated poster from 1956. The poster refers, in different ways, to Norway.

We see a typical country mitten holding a snowball with figures skiing. In the picture we also see the text: " Norway - Ski - Sun - Snow ", which sums up both the poster and the country.
