The story behind the motif

Poster with a nostalgic illustration from the book The ABC journey, written by Elsa Beskow and published in 1945.

The book was used to teach children the alphabet in an entertaining and educational way, as each letter is linked to a picture and a short rhyme. This image features the letters M & L, with an illustration of a sprig of lingonberries and a crescent moon watching over the children. 

Elsa Beskow was a Swedish author and illustrator, known for her imaginative children's books that often contain educational elements. In her book "ABC-resan" you can follow Anna and Bo as they discover the world and at the same time work their way through the alphabet.
