Three Weeks at the Capitol
At the New York premiere, the Capitol Theatre kept the film for a third week – the first time the cinema had done so in its seven-year history. Police were called in on opening day to manage the crowds. A Woman of Affairs also marked Greta Garbo’s first screen pairing with John Gilbert, the duo who would soon be Hollywood’s most talked-about couple.
