The poster was issued by Österreichische Verkehrswerbung, the advertising office of the Ministry of Trade and Transport in Vienna. It says something about the new winter tourism of the 1930s: by 1931, Austria already had a state-supervised ski-school curriculum, developed by Hannes Schneider and Anton Tschon.

The story behind the motif
A beautiful illustration with the vintage travel poster Austria by Erich von Wunschheim from the year 1937.

The illustration promotes the ski resort Wunschheim in Austria. In the poster we see the alpine ski resort with two houses covered in snow and skiers heading down the sunny slope. The illustration with its simple but effective lines and colors was typical of many travel posters from the beginning of the 20th century.
