The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful illustration from Elsa Beskow's children's book " Do you want to read? 2 - Second school year" which was first published in 1936.
The picture shows en little black kitten sits next to a jug and puts its paw on it, as if examining it curiously. The image is simple and calm, with the cat in focus against a light background.
Elsa Beskow (1874–1953) was a Swedish writer and illustrator who became one of the country's most influential picture book creators. The second part, Do you want to read? 2 - The second school year, was published in the first edition in 1936 by the Swedish book publisher Norstedt in Stockholm.
