The story behind the motif

Cowboy culture with its equipment, terminology, cattle and horses came to the United States from Mexico, which originally received it from Spain. In Spanish the historical term is vaquero or sometimes in Mexico charro. In Paraguay and Argentina it is called gaucho and in Chile huaso.
The Mexican and South American professional role began to appear during the 17th century. The cowboy as a professional worker is above all connected to the period between 1865 and 1900 and to the great plains of the western and southwestern United States.
