The story behind the motif
Post with the poster "Cycles Perfecta" off Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) from the year 1899.
The poster is advertising for a bicycle brand. The image shows a woman standing by a bicycle, surrounded by swirling hair and decorative lines.
Alfons Maria Mucha, also known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech graphic artist. Mucha lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period and is best known for his theater posters, such as those for Sarah Bernhardt, the most famous actress in Paris at the time.
He created paintings, book illustrations, and designs for carpets, jewelry, and theater sets in the style known as the Mucha style. His works depicted beautiful young women in neoclassical clothing surrounded by flowers forming halos.
