Assembled, Dismantled, Rebuilt
When the lighthouse was lit in 1863, it was Sweden’s first with a revolving lens. The iron tower was manufactured at Ludwigsbergs Mekaniska Verkstad in Stockholm, dismantled for transport and then erected at the outermost point of the Gryt archipelago. Before the lighthouse, a wooden beacon dating from 1745 stood here; it was demolished the same year.

The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful drawing of Häradskär's lighthouse from 1863. On the picture we see the text: "Detail - Drawing for the Lighthouse on Häradskär." Signed "Härradsskär den 3dje Augusti 1863."
In 1862-1863 the lighthouse was built at "Fyrskäret". Under the direction of Nils Gustaf von Heidenstam, the approx. 29 meter high, red-painted, open pillar tower made of iron had been drawn by AT Gellerstedt, with detailed drawing of the support of the lighting apparatus carried out by CF Carlsson.
