The story behind the motif

The poster is an advertisement for JOB, a brand that sells cigarette rolling papers. The image shows a woman with long curly hair, with a typical Art Nouveau style of sweeping lines and geometric patterns.
Alfons Maria Mucha, also known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech graphic artist. Mucha lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period and is best known for his theater posters, such as those for Sarah Bernhardt, the most famous actress in Paris at the time.
He created paintings, book illustrations, and designs for carpets, jewelry, and theater sets in the style known as the Mucha style. His works depicted beautiful young women in neoclassical clothing surrounded by flowers that formed halos.
