The story behind the motif
Poster with the painting "Love Nymph" by the artist Anders Zorn (1860-1920) from 1883.
Love nymph is one of Anders Zorn's most famous works. The work is also his largest and first full-figure study in nude format. The original painting was sold in 2012 at an auction in Stockholm for seven million kroner.
The painting depicts a woman with red hair lying naked in a decorated bed surrounded by flowers, angelic figures and butterfly-like beings.
Anders Zorn was one of Sweden's most famous and prominent artists during the late 1800s and early 1900s, known for his portraits and genre paintings. Although Zorn was strongly influenced by French Impressionism and contemporary European art, he developed his own unique style that made him known internationally. His art is characterized by simplicity, but also by emotional power and technical brilliance.
