In Kary Lasch's photograph from the Monaco Grand Prix in 1955, we see the back of a Mercedes W196. Argentinian racing driver Juan Manuel Fangio placed first in the race with the car that had starting number 2, but after 49 laps the gearbox broke down and he had to stop the race.

The Monaco Grand Prix is ​​one of the world's most prestigious and iconic Formula 1 races, known for its narrow city circuit through the streets of Monte Carlo. The race has been running since 1929 and embodies a unique combination of technical precision, glamor and motorsport history. 

Kary Lasch was a Swedish photographer with a unique international career. He portrayed royalty, artists and movie stars, but also racing's greatest moments.
