The story behind the motif

Elsa Beskow was a well-known and much-loved Swedish author and illustrator who wrote and illustrated over 40 books that have become classics in Swedish children's literature. Lasse-little in the garden is part of a long series of stories in which Beskow depicts children's adventures in nature, with a mixture of realism and fantasy.
Similar to many of her other works, this work is filled with detailed and beautiful illustrations that complement the poetic text.
