The Palace Became a Poorhouse
In 1745, Katarina Parish bought the palace and turned it into a poorhouse – a function it retained for 143 years. During the nineteenth century, it had around 178 beds, and an inspection in 1872 criticised the building as cramped, vermin-infested and a fire hazard.

The story behind the motif

Poster with a drawing of the Lillienhoff Palace, located on Götgatan by Medborgarplatsen, Södermalm in Stockholm. The building was built in 1670 and is one of the older palaces in the city, making it an important part of Stockholm's architectural history. 

Over the years, the Lillienhoff palace has been used for many different activities, and is particularly known for having several pubs and restaurants over a long period. It has been a place for both work and pleasure, reflecting how the functions of the city change over time.
