When ferns became a mania
Edward Joseph Lowe’s masterwork on British and exotic ferns was published in eight volumes between 1856 and 1860, in the midst of the Victorian “fern fever”. Ferns had become so sought after that botanical books also served as guides for collectors who wanted to grow the latest rarities at home.

The story behind the motif

We are pleased to offer beautiful prints from the literary work Beautiful Leaved Plants by E.J Lowe from the year 1861. The selection contains a number of beautiful leaves, printed in color and finished by hand. 

This classic illustration shows a fern with the Latin text "Pteris argyraea XXXVII" at the bottom. A timeless interior detail that suits every home.
