A Lighthouse as a Construction Kit
The drawing was approved at Stockholm Palace on 16 August 1864, but the tower itself was not built until the following year. The parts were manufactured in cast iron at Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstad in Gothenburg, assembled there for inspection, dismantled and then transported to Måseskär. The lighthouse was lit on 8 October 1865.

The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful drawing of Måseskär lighthouse from 1864. On the picture we see the text: "Drawing for an iron Lighthouse to be erected on Måseskär with lighting apparatus of the 2nd order à feu fixe. The height of the light above the wy is 114 feet".
To the right at the top is a text from the royal palace in Stockholm: "Gillas Stockholms Slott den 16 Augusti 1864 by most gracious command. Signature." . In the lower left corner we also see the text: "In 1865, this lighthouse was built and was found at the inspection that took place on October 8, so in perfect accordance with this drawing. Attested by Carlsson lighthouse engineer.".
The texts describe the drawing and give a historical insight into the time.
