A pocket-sized Christmas book
The illustration did not come from a standalone picture book, but from the 1936 edition of Sagoprinsessan – a small Christmas publication of just 94 pages. It was the periodical’s 22nd year, and Maja Synnergren’s images appeared alongside drawings by three other illustrators, among stories by four different authors.

The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful illustration from Sagoprinsessan , a storybook published in 1936. In the picture we see a sweet princess with her parrot, in a royal setting.
The wonderful drawings from Sagoprinsessan are created by Maja Synnergren, a Swedish drawing teacher, painter and cartoonist. Maja became known primarily as a fairy tale illustrator and children's portraitist.
