A pocket-sized Christmas book
The illustration belongs to the 1936 edition of Sagoprinsessan, a small 94-page storybook for Christmas measuring 15.5 × 11 centimetres. It was the 22nd edition in the series, and Maja Synnergren shared the illustration work with three other artists. The Christmas booklet was edited by Cyrus Granér, who also led Folkskolans barntidning.

The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful illustration from Sagoprinsessan , a storybook published in 1936. In the picture we see a prince being played on a guitar for a young girl, in a green environment.
The wonderful drawings from Sagoprinsessan are created by Maja Synnergren, a Swedish drawing teacher, painter and cartoonist. Maja became known primarily as a fairy tale illustrator and children's portraitist.
