The story behind the motif

Post with the poster "Salon des Cents" off Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) from 1897. The poster was created for the Salon des Cent, an art exhibition held in Paris. The image shows a woman in a relaxed and dreamy pose. She wears a simple clothing style and has a long flowing hair.

Alfons Maria Mucha, also known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech graphic artist. Mucha lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period and is best known for his theater posters, such as those for Sarah Bernhardt, the most famous actress in Paris at the time.

He created paintings, book illustrations, and designs for carpets, jewelry, and theater sets in the style known as the Mucha style. His works depicted beautiful young women in neoclassical clothing surrounded by flowers forming halos.
