A Lighthouse Found a New Location
The original plan was different: parish priest C. E. Sandgren advocated a lighthouse at Örnholmen. But innkeeper Jöns Olsson persuaded lighthouse engineer J. A. Höijer that Näset was preferable—farther out toward the sea and closer to the village. The lighthouse was not lit until 25 August 1883, the year after the drawing was approved.

The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful drawing of Segerstad's lighthouse on Öland from 1882. The lighthouse was built due to several strandings on the Öland coast at the time. The merit of the creation of the lighthouse is the then vicar of Segerstad. He repeatedly requested the authorities to build a lighthouse slightly north of the current lighthouse site at Örnholmen.
On the picture we see the text: "Drawing for a Limestone Lighthouse to be erected at Segerstad on Öland's east coast. Liked Stockholm Castle 1882, by most gracious command. In 1882 a lighthouse was erected at Segerstad in accordance with this drawing.".
Frame not included.
