The story behind the motif
Poster with a unique photograph of the crest of Skansen Lejonet, taken in September 1893. The photo is from Bleck- & Plåtslageribolaget's farm, Sillgatan 7 in Gothenburg. On the sides of the lion stands Simon Olsson in a light hat and suit with the workers Karl Karlberg, Svantesson and Axel Svensson.
Skansen Lejonet is located on Gullberget at Gullbergsvass in Gothenburg and has been a national building monument since January 25, 1935. It is one of two defense fortifications that were built at the end of the 17th century by Erik Dahlbergh. The other is Skansen Kronan, which was founded two weeks before "The Lion".
Photographer: Unknown | Date: 1893.
