The Ski Tow in Björkliden
Björkliden’s first ski tow was built in 1947, when mountain tourism began to recover after the war years. The 1,000-metre lift became the third in Sweden and the first in Norrbotten—with capacity for 150 people an hour.

The story behind the motif

Poster with motifs of the cable car Skid cable car in Björkliden. Björkliden was the third in Sweden and was built during the 1940s, just before the time when the photograph was taken. The picture shows two people riding the cable car with beautiful scenery in the background and glorious weather.

The arrival of the cable car marks a significant milestone in the development of skiing and tourism in Björkliden. It is not only a practical means of transport for skiers, but also a symbol of the ski resort's history and its importance for tourism in northern Sweden.
