When Traffic Ground to a Halt
On 4 February 1953, snowfall paralysed Stockholm’s rail transport: both trams and trains stood still. The following day, snow was documented being cleared from roofs at several addresses in the Klara district—a reminder that the winter chaos also had to be dealt with above street level.

The story behind the motif

Poster with an old photograph of snow removal in the past. In the picture we see two men who work shoveling snow from a roof in Stockholm. One man has a safety line tied around his waist and a colleague is ready in case the snowplow should fall.

The picture was taken in Sweden in 1953.
