The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful photograph of a man standing with a long fishing rod, at Stavangerfjord . The photo was taken by the Norwegian photographer Anders Beer Wilse.
Med Stavangerfjord til Nordkap is a Norwegian silent film documentary from 1925. In newspaper ads it was marketed as "The first real tourist film shot in Norway". It depicts Northern Norway and Western Norway and was produced by Bio-Film Compagni. It premiered on 19 October 1925 in Norway and was distributed by Specialfilms AS.
Anders Beer Wilse was a Norwegian photographer who documented Norway in the early to mid-20th century and also worked in the United States. Wilse traveled a lot in Norway, both on assignment and for his own interest. He took his 10 kg camera to inaccessible places through difficult terrain, as far north as Svalbard.
