A Room That Burned Down
The rehearsal room belonged to the old Paris Opera on Rue Le Peletier, which was destroyed by fire in 1873. When Degas’s painting was shown at the third Impressionist exhibition four years later, the place depicted was already gone—what remained was his memory of everyday life at the opera.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with the painting The Dance Class created by Edgar Degas in 1873. In the picture we see a row of ballet dancers in beautiful dresses who can be thought of as preparing for a performance.

Edgar Degas was a French artist, printmaker and sculptor. In addition to portraits, his early pictures were often history paintings. Later, Degas also became interested in modern Parisian life and was influenced by the artist Édouard Manet.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
