An Unexpected Success in 1874
Renoir brought the painting to the Impressionists’ first joint exhibition in Paris in April 1874—an event that would give the movement its name. While many works were met with ridicule, this painting received particular attention: critics called it both lively and original, despite objections to its sketch-like style.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with a beautiful painting created in 1874 by Auguste Renoir - a French painter and sculptor. The painting The dancer is a stunning full body portrait of a ballerina in a light blue dress which, together with the background, creates a lovely color scheme.

Between the years 1860-1861, Auguste Renoir studied art in Charles Gleyre's studio. Then around the year 1862 he started at the École des Beaux-Arts. At school he got to know great artists such as Claude Monet, Frédéric Bazille and Alfred Sisley.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
