The Light That Was Mistaken for Another
Vinga’s first lighthouse was Sweden’s first with a lighthouse lens and was lit on 15 November 1841. Its fixed light was, however, easily confused with other lighthouses in the Kattegat, a mix-up that could have fatal consequences. The lighthouse station was therefore later supplemented with another tower.

The story behind the motif

Vinga is a lighthouse in the Gothenburg archipelago in the Kattegatt. The island is located within Styrsö parish in Västergötland and belongs to the municipality of Gothenburg. Vinga is the municipality's westernmost land area, located approximately ten nautical miles from the city center.
